Charlottes Web Review
Whoever said that spiders are freaky and scary is to be proved wrong by this Charlotte’s Web review. In this movie of 2006, a certain spider made a great deal in saving another animal’s life. A spider and a pig can be friends. It may be unimaginable for you, but not for E.B. White, the author of one of the most award-winning stories of today. Charlotte’s Web started by showing a litter of 11 new-born piglets. The mother of these cute little piglets can only feed ten of them, thus the farmer decided to just kill one so that the ten others can be accommodated well. The farmer started to choose the runt to kill, but was stopped by his daughter, Fern. She begged his father to let the piglet live and her father agreed; he even gave her the runt for a pet. Fern named the pig Wilbur. When Wilbur was healthy enough to be on his own, he was sold to Mr. Homer Zuckerman. In Mr. Zuckerman’s farm, Wilbur met a number of different animals – sheep, cows, rats, horse, and a grey spider named Charlotte.
Charlotte, Wilbur and all the other animals became a family. They were very happy until Wilbur learned he was going to be slaughtered and eaten on Christmas. The pig turned to Charlotte and she promised him to do anything to save his life. She successfully did so by spinning words pertaining to Wilbur. “Some pig” was the phrase she spun and showed the farmer. The farmer miraculously understood her and spared the life of Wilbur. Her actions saved the life of Wilbur and in gratitude, the pig took care of her until her dying day.
